Zebra Migration & Khwai Safari

This tour has been carefully created to coincide with the arrival of the zebra migration in Botswana. This event happens between December and March every year. This is during the rainy season, but it is the best time to witness the longest mammal migration in Africa! Followed by a visit to the spectacular Khwai Concession Area which comprising a stunning landscape of forests, lagoons, floodplains and islands.

Day 1: Johannesburg / Maun Airport / Nxai Pan National Park

Flights from Johannesburg with a road transfer to Nxai Pan National Park. Witness herds of thousands of zebra, gemsbok, and wildebeest migrate to this area.

Stay: Migration Expedition Camp

Day 2 & 3: Nxai Pan National Park

Nxai Pan is one of the best places to experience the longest zebra migration that spans from Namibia to the Pans, covering over 1000km. Visit Baines’ Baobabs on the edge of the KudiaKam Pan, also known as the seven sisters.

Day 4: Nxai Pan National Park / Khwai Concession Area

Road transfer to Maun, followed by a flight by light aircraft to the Khwai area. Extending from the dazzling Okavango Delta, the Khwai area is home to an impressive number of African animals and birds, perfect for a safari holiday in Botswana.

Day 5: Khwai Concession Area

The Khwai safari grounds is known for its superb game viewing all year round, as it has one of the largest populations of game on the African continent. Enjoy action-packed game drives and a sundowner with herds of elephants in the distance – an unforgettable wildlife experience.

Day 6: Khwai Concession Area / Maun Airport / Johannesburg
