Day 2: Nairobi / Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, we will meet our safari guides. Your day begins with spending time in Nairobi, where we visit the Nairobi National Museum. We also visit the Giraffe Centre, which protects the highly endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, and end the tour with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. Enjoy lunch at the Karen Blixen restaurant before we head south to the Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is known for its huge elephant herds and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. We enjoy an en-route game drive in the Park on the way to our Lodge. Sometimes described as ‘Africa’s Elephant Park’, it is true that the area is one of the best places in Africa to observe elephants at close range.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park / Nairobi

Enjoy a full day in Amboseli with game drives. It is a wonderful experience to see Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds in the early morning. Wildlife photography against this dramatic backdrop is particularly rewarding if the clouds clear. The diversity of the landscapes matches the variety of wildlife at Amboseli. From swampy wetlands and lush woodlands to the sprawling savannah and dried-up Lake, the Park boasts some truly spectacular scenery.

Day 4: Nairobi / Lake Naivasha National Park

Early morning game drive in Amboseli, catching your last views of Kilimanjaro before returning to the Lodge for breakfast and check-out. Our journey continues to Lake Naivasha. Enjoy an afternoon boat safari on Lake Naivasha before checking into our lodge overnight.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha / Lake Nakuru National Park / Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, we drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, which means “Dust or Dusty Place” in the Masai language. Situated on the Great Rift Valley floor, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. The Park is fenced off as a sanctuary to protect the highly endangered Rothschild giraffes and black and white rhinos. Bird species inhabit the Lake and the surrounding area, including flamingos, African fish eagles, Goliath heron, hammerkop, pied kingfisher, and Verreaux eagle. Enjoy game drives in the Park with a late afternoon return to Lake Naivasha for the night.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha National Park / Masai Mara National Reserve
Enjoy a boat excursion on Lake Naivasha (own account), the highest Lake in the Rift Valley and one of its most beautiful. Fringed by papyrus and with the extinct Mount Longonot as a backdrop, this is a lovely place to watch and photograph birds. We leave the lake area behind and drive through the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve, followed by an afternoon game drive in the Park. The annual highlight is the Great Wildebeest Migration (between July and October), creating one of the world’s supreme natural spectacles. The wildebeest form a magnificent sight when they enter the Mara and cross the crocodile-infested waters of the Mara River.

With some luck, you will see some of the “big five.” The great diversity of species present in this area is impressive. Day 8: Masai Mara National Reserve / TANZANIA BORDER / Lake Victoria
Cross-border into Tanzania
After breakfast, drive from the Masai Mara to the Kenya/Tanzania border at Isebenia/Sirari, which is west of the national parks near Lake Victoria. At the border post, you will say goodbye to your Kenyan guide and meet with your Tanzania guide. We start our Tanzania adventure with a visit to Lake Victoria, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. The explorer John Speke named the Lake after Queen Victoria in 1858 while on an expedition with Richard Burton to locate the source of the Nile River. With an afternoon at leisure, you can relax at the Lodge or participate in one of the activities offered by the Lodge.

Day 9: Lake Victoria / Serengeti National Park (Ndabaka Gate)

Enjoy the morning relaxing at the resort or choose from the optional excursions offered by the resort. After an early lunch at the Lodge, we drive to the Serengeti National Park, which is 20km from Lake Victoria and enter through the Ndabaka Park gate in Western Serengeti. We enjoy en-route game drives to the Lodge. Arrive late afternoon in the Central Serengeti with herds of animals running across vast open spaces and predators hunting their prey.

Day 10: Serengeti National Park / Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy a morning en-route game drive to the park gate, followed by a picnic lunch before heading to Ngorongoro Crater. After bidding the Serengeti farewell, you will visit Olduvai Gorge, a famous archaeological site. The gorge lies on the location of an ancient lake, covered by thick layers of volcanic ash, which carefully preserved the world’s earliest records of humankind and was unearthed by the devoted Leakey family. . En route to Ngorongoro, you can opt to visit a Maasai Village near the crater. (own account). The proceeds are used to buy water and other necessities for the tribe that you will visit. This entrance fee to the village will be for your account and is not included in your package).

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater / Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, descend 600 m into the magnificent crater for game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater. Witness an unforgettable spectacle of African wildlife – a world teeming with animals. The Park sustains a wide variety of animals, including the black rhino, with its year-round water supply and fodder. Another big drawcard to this picturesque Park is its dense population of predators, which includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool near the Mandusi Swamp, and a drive through the haunting forest will allow you to feast your eyes on some of the most spectacular green vegetation you will ever see. Later in the afternoon, you will ascend to the crater rim and drive to Lake Manyara.

Day 13: Lake Manyara National Park / Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast, drive down into the Rift Valley on the way to Lake Manyara National Park, followed by game drives. The mosaic of the Park’s different habitats is easily seen: the rift wall, the groundwater forest, acacia woodlands, open grassland, the lakeshore, the swamp, and the Lake itself. After the game, the drive continues to Arusha, where we stop at the Cultural Heritage Centre (for shopping for Tanzania art, memorabilia, and Tanzanite) and enjoy your picnic lunch. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight home.
